The final jacket to a

previously posted Illustration. This piece

had been cancelled, however I just found that it has been

released by Penguin onto the web.. which is a nice surprise.

I quite liked the finished job in the end.

I think the Art Director did a nice

job of the typography and design.

The process was quite to different to my usual 

assignments, as it was quite specifically guided 

by the editorial team.

Ultimately, the concept was scrapped in 

favour of an entirely different approach.

Part of an under drawing for a colour Illustration. 

I have several layers of drawing to ad to this 

and it will be composited and coloured digitally. 

It sat in my planning chest for many months before I 

could get a chance to get into into the computer. 

And might sit in my hard drive for a while longer yet! 

Time, time, time... I wish I had more of it!

Cover Illustration for 'Hiro's Quest #4: The Shadow Stealers' 

published by Scholastic. It's a fairly sparse cover, 

as I deliberately designed around the type and 

logos and bylines. Once they are overlaid the jacket has 

just enough information going on. 

I originally had some swirling mist and falling 

Sakura which added a nice feel to it and 

created some more movement, 

but deleted those out to free up some space. 

This has so far been a very enjoyable series to work on 

for the 9-12 age group. The covers are a lot of fun to design!
